Asparagus Soup + Spring Chive Blossoms

Usher in the season with this simple soup.


When I think spring and asparagus, my mind instantly goes to ladies’ luncheons, Easter, Mother’s Day, and bridal showers. I’m really drawn to foods with a spring occasion vibe. For that reason, I began developing this recipe as a chilled soup—especially as I imagined it topped with whimsical purple chive blossoms. After many tweaks, I came to realize and accept that I much prefer it warm. If you shop at your local farmers market, you’ll notice that asparagus and leeks are beginning to make an appearance. Here, they join forces in this celebration of the season.
